In the Studio

I'll be off the road for a bit. There are certain things I have to be in the studio to do. Today I needed to #1 send artwork to my licensing agent in Tokyo, #2 work on bag project that I will be introducing at fall market, and #3 put the binding on my granddaughters quilt. I'll be posting more on the quilt later on my ideas blog. (see photo below)

Thanks for following my travels . . . I will be back on the road again shortly!

Apostle Highlands GC - Bayfield, WI

Tomorrow, I will be enjoying this golf course. Another designer day off . . . ; ))

Bayfield Quilt Company - Bayfield, WI

This shop has relocated since this was posted. Sorry I don't have the new address.

Nestled in the trees on the south side of Hwy 13 as
you are driving toward Bayfield you will find this
gem of a Quilt Shop!

Quilts flutter in the breeze.

And you can thank this woman for creating this
quilting haven, meet Barb Hoekstra a former
attorney from Minneapolis/St.Paul.

Barb is standing in front of a lighthouse quilt of her own creation.
The patterns below are available both wholesale and retail.

Long Arm in the lower level.

The all important - cozy spot to sit!

The 'Up North' selection of bolts.

Creative display for threads.
Did you know you have to dust threads?
I never realized . . .
Probably one of many secrets that shop owners know. ; )

Historic charm . . . with a contemporary flair!

then meet these two.

Minnesota Designer Marilyn Foreman.

The next three photos are of the upstairs at Fabric Patch.
I thought to myself, "I could live here"!

There's even a kitchen!

And now here is someone else I want you
to meet . . . Joan Negri of Bessemer, MI.
Joan came into the shop while I was
visiting and Joanne asked if she could show
Joan's quilt to me. Joan said, "sure".
Now I have seen a lot of quilts and . . .
WELL, I was speechless!

Can you believe all the fancy stitches?

Joan told me that this quilt is an expanded version (king size)
of a pattern called Fancy Stitches by Smith Street Designs.

Joan's work was absolutely stunning and truly a work of art!
Thanks for allowing me to share it on this blog Joan.

You Know You're Up North When . . .

. . . you see Paul Bunyan!

The drive was spectacular!
The weather sunny and cool with
no humidity!!! aka HEAVEN!

This Mama White Tail deer and her fawn put on a little
show for me. The fawn had run ahead of the doe
and got up on the pavement and freaked out, turning
wildly in circles, while the doe waited in the ditch.
Finally the baby came to it's senses and ran back toward
it's mother and escaped any injury.

Shortly after seeing the deer I saw a mink lop (not lope)
it was definately a lop, lop, lop across the road. Sorry no photo.

The rest of the photos are where I spent the 4th of July,
in Presque Isle, WI.

Quintessential Northern Wisconsin,
where both the air and water are clean.

A Deluxe Model Fish house!

My early morning shadow, flattering isn't it? ; )

And today I played GOLF!!! See my golf blog if you want details.

I hope you enjoyed YOUR 4th of July Weekend!

Hello again! Over the past several years I've gone through a lot of changes both personal and professional. While I am no longer sell...
