Meet Zachary the Youngest Member of the Pine Tree Quilters Guild

I first met Zach when I gave a presentation to the Pine Tree Quilters Guild. I recruited him to help me hold up quilts for show and tell. I met Zach a second time this weekend at the Pine Tree Quilters Quilt Show where he was exhibiting for the very first time. I asked Zach to tell me about his quilt, then I asked his mother for permission to share this video. I am always charmed by young people who want to learn the fine art of sewing and quilting.

Where in the world should I go next?

Dreaming about continuing my GIANT SHOP HOP this fall.

I am looking for suggestions. What states do you think I should visit this time? Send me a comment below and let me know what you think. You can check out the states and shops that I have already visited by looking at the column on the right.

And while I am thinking of traveling and quilt shops . . . WELL, there seams (I mean seems) to be a sign for everything else. Don't you think we need a road side symbol for QUILT SHOPS?

Quilt Cove - Eagan, Minnesota

Minnesota looks damp and dreary doesn't it? Well, wait until you
step inside the Quilt Cove you will be surrounded by colorful fabrics and quilts!

Meet Sue Herzberg, owner of Quilt Cove!

This shop hosts a large color wall.
Are you in need a certain shade or tint of any color fabric?
You will most likely find it here!

No cutting corners in this cutting corner. ;-)

This pile of fabric bundles . . .
makes you want to 'dig in'
and find that 'just right' bundle for
your next project. Fun, fun, fun!

Many, many, many sample quilts displayed - a feast for the eyes.

And much to my delight (as a publisher of patterns)
there is an extensive pattern wall!
The photo only shows a small portion of it!

I hope you'll check out this shop next time you are in the
Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro area. (They are quite close
to the Mall of America and Ikea. )

Eagle Creek Quilt Shop - Shakopee, Minnesota

Eagle Creek Quilt Shop is located in this historic 1909 railroad depot
close to downtown Shakopee.

Lori Gillick (pictured below) owns this one of a kind
shop with her partner Becky Kelso.

The tall ceilings of this building lend themselves to a
great gallery like presentation of quilts large and small.

The freight room with brick walls
and large doors create a charm unique to this building.

Projects and kits abound.

Lots of natural light in this bright and airy shop!

Stop in - You'll fall in love . . .
with the quilts, the building and the people!

Here you will find a tidy and inviting shop.

Great displays and awesome samples!

Cozy and Warm . . .

. . . Sweet and Cheerful.

Did I already say . . . awesome samples?

Hexagons! One of my favs!

And being a hand quilter myself, I was delighted to
see samples featuring hand quilting.

There may be freezing rain and snow outside but
there is warmth and cheer inside this shop!

There's much more to see so I hope you will visit,

The Long Road Home

The long drive home was rain free!!!!

In fact it was a beautiful fall day.

I love the color palette, subdued yet rich.

And the colors intensified as I went further north.

Arrived home about midnight.
Home Sweet Home!

I will be off the road for a few months
with design work to do.

If you don't want to miss it when I hit
the road again and continue
Jamie's Giant Shop Hop,
sign up
for my email notices
(right hand column)

Until then . . . Happy Trails and Stitches!

Picket Fence Quilt Co - Wichita, KS

Introducing Lisa Johnson owner of the Picket Fence Quilt Company.

"Smile" or should I say, "Surprise"?

This aisle will inspire you for holiday projects!

And this display reflects my favorite season. Autumn!

Shop mascot poses like a pro for the camera.

Super cute baby area!

And two things we like to see in every quilt shop across America . . .
#1 (Above)  A busy classroom
and
#2 (Below) A younger generation of sewers and quilters!

Hen Feathers Quilt Shop - Wichita, KS

At Hen Feathers you will find an open inviting and friendly place to shop.

Meet Peggy Engel, owner of this shop.
I was excited to learn Peggys last name because it's
my maiden name, spelled the same way!
And FYI, it means Angel. ;-)

I love the antique cart fixture that is holding bolts in the center of this photo.

Large cutting tables with lots of elbow room.

Cute Eric Carle Corner!

Fresh flowers make a statement.

And check out these cute T-Shirts that are available!

Peggy, Thanks for letting me visit!

And I'd encourage any of you visiting or living in this area
to stop in and see the shop of a real Engel (Angel)
